Lancashire Facts

Lancaster Castle has been a prison since at least 1196 and is now partly open to the public. The notorious Pendle Witches trial took place here and the castle survived an attack by Robert Bruce and more than one royalist attack during the English civil war. Lancaster Castle is currently owned by Queen Elizabeth II.

Follow the M55 at the end you will come to a large roundabout Drive straight across onto 'Yeadon Way' Continue across the first mini roundabout and past the Yeadon Way Pub on your left At the second mini roundabout turn right At the third mini roundabout bare left continue to the junction and turn left on to Waterloo Road Heading down waterloo Road go straight across the traffic lights continue until you reach the second set of lights At these lights turn right on to the promenade with the sea on the left Continue along the promenade past Central and North Pier Still continuing along the promenade you will come to 'Gynn Sqaure' roundabout Turn left continuing along the promenade the Cliffs Hotel is on the third block
