Lancashire Facts

Lancaster Castle has been a prison since at least 1196 and is now partly open to the public. The notorious Pendle Witches trial took place here and the castle survived an attack by Robert Bruce and more than one royalist attack during the English civil war. Lancaster Castle is currently owned by Queen Elizabeth II.

Directions:

From the M6 take the M55 exit and come off at Junction 5. Turn left and follow the signs for Airport. Pass the Airport to the T Junction at the end of the dual carriageway. At the T Junction turn left. Pontins will be on the left hand side. Follow the road all the way to the end which will lead you straight into St Annes. At the first set of traffic lights go straight over turn next left Wood Street then first right Orchard Road. At the end of this road the Hotel is situated diagonally to the left. Car Parking is available at the front or at the side.
