The Forest of Bowland, also known as the Bowland Fells, is an area of barren gritstone fells, deep valleys and peat moorland in north-east Lancashire. The Forest of Bowland has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) since 1964., The Forest of Bowland is used for grouse shooting, walking and cycling, though it is relatively unfrequented by tourists.

DIRECTIONS FROM THE SOUTHExit the M6 at junction 31 Preston South Turn on to the A59 towards Preston. Follow the A59 up Brockholes Brow and Turn Right at the Mini Roundabout onto the A583 Blackpool Road. Follow the road past the retail park on the right and the Moor Park on the left. Cross the A6 and go through 12 sets of lights in total At the lights with the police station on the left turn right into Lea Road. Follow the road past Cotty Brook Pub turn left at the roundabout keep right at the saddle pub and pass the Sitting Goose on the Right. Bartle Hall is on the right.DIRECTIONS FROM THE NORTHExit the M6 at Junction 32 Preston North turn onto the A6 southbound then take the immediate left signposted for Ingol and Cottam. Turn left at the roundabout onto Tom Benson Way then right at the next still following signs for Cottam . Follow the road and pass a Church on your left cross a railway bridge and the Rugby club on your right. At the roundabout take the last exit for Cottom. Take the first left into Hoyles Lane. pass a post office and church. Turn right at the T pass the saddle pub and sitting goose and Bartle Hall is on the right.
