Lancashire Facts

Lancaster Castle has been a prison since at least 1196 and is now partly open to the public. The notorious Pendle Witches trial took place here and the castle survived an attack by Robert Bruce and more than one royalist attack during the English civil war. Lancaster Castle is currently owned by Queen Elizabeth II.

Sleep Inn Skelmersdale Lancashire Manor

The Great Hall was built in the time of Good Queen Bess.

Doubtless though the Elizabethans would have given their doublets and Farthingales for a fraction of the comfort you get at the Lancashire Manor Hotel today.

There is a great atmosphere you'll love the ancient timbered ceilings four posters and lovely chintzes.

You'll find its not so much an Esquires Bar as an old hostelry and you'll find the whole place so restful.
